I’ve been a personal trainer in Nijmegen since I was 17. Now, 23 years later and a lot wiser, I am the owner of Bamboo Gym.
When I started as a personal trainer in Nijmegen, I didn’t know that much yet, so I started diving deep into the training side of things. But I quickly realized that a personal trainer needs to understand more than just working out. That’s why I’ve completed various personal trainer courses to help your body move better.

I dove into the world of rehabilitation where I learned how to train small muscles through FRC, and how nerves, lymph, blood vessels, and organs are interconnected through Dr. Perry.
Personal trainer upgrade 2
To bridge the gap between rehab and fitness, I started looking into how my body worked and discovered that it first needs to feel safe before it can become stronger, leaner, and fitter. PosturePro, Ido Portal, and The Footcollective gave me the tools to improve my body awareness.
Personal trainer upgrade 3
My girlfriend Roosmarijn recently gave birth, and I felt it was important to be able to train her during and after her pregnancy. So, I took a course at Sterkher to help women from Nijmegen and the surrounding area get back into sports after giving birth.

To stand out as a personal trainer in Nijmegen, it’s important to not only do in-depth courses but especially to focus on broadening your knowledge. For instance, I know quite a bit about breathing, stress, and sleep, and a bit less about hormones, nutrition, and the immune system—but luckily Trude knows everything about those topics.

My specialty is simplifying exercises so that the right muscles are trained—a specialty I have perfected over the years.

What kind of training do I offer?
Personal Training
On Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday & Sunday, I provide personal training or sometimes duo sessions. The goal is to help you reach your objective as quickly as possible with as few rules/restrictions as possible.
Group classes
On Tuesday mornings and Wednesday evenings, I teach Conditioning.

I had a burnout in 2021. Recovery was gradual, but I felt that physical and mental strength were lacking. I was dreading starting to exercise but felt it was necessary. I allowed myself some help with this! Wouter immediately saw what I needed. Wouter has a lot of knowledge and experience in the fields of sports, nutrition, and psychology! During the training sessions, he explained a lot so that I can keep applying what I’ve learned. After three months, I feel physically powerful and mentally much stronger. I’m more active and I’m doing more things again. I couldn’t have done this alone; Wouter showed me every time that I was capable of much more than I thought. At the end of the process, there was also focus on how I could continue exercising independently in a way that suits me.
